Outfits /// 5 Struggles anyone that only wears black will understand

REPEAT OFFENDER...  In Defence of Wearing Black 24/7

    SHOP THE POST

You've probably noticed that the world is obsessed with wearing black, and for good reason: It's easy and always looks polished. Whether you're a college student or a working woman, it seems everyone's go-to outfit is a pair of black denim or black pencil skirt. Some may wear black from head to toe or use it to mix and match with other colours, but there's a good chance that a substantial portion of your wardrobe is black. Today's post is proof that wearing all black on repeat will in no way hinder your style. Just pair a black look with bold hues, playful fabrics and classic accessories for maximum impact. I bought this blue peplum top from my recent Spring haul, you can see the video here.

We get that giving up black entirely is a tall order. But for the most youthful effect, you might want to try swapping it out for, or pairing it with other "new black" colours when it's something that's worn close to your face. Be open to try charcoal grey, navy blue and tan camel. You may just discover how much you truly enjoy it. Okay, enough of that, let's relish in 5 struggles anyone that only wears black will understand:

    1. White deodorant marks are the bane of your life. The first company to make a spray that actually doesn't leave white streaks across your clothes will make millions.
    2. You sometimes worry that people think you wear the exact same top and trousers every single day. No, you just have the same outfit 10 times over.
    3. You haven't bought so many nice things because they don't come in black. Farewell to all the clothes you left in the fitting rooms because they only come in blushed pink or red.
    4. And don't even talk to us about getting makeup marks around the collar. Whoever says it's worse on white tops is lying.
    5. You feel like the places you can shop is narrowly limited by colour palette, and usually only ever find stuff you like in Zara, H&M and sometimes Topshop.
But ultimately, it's all worth it because wearing black is a way of life and you love it. True story.
Sound familiar? Same. Let me know your thoughts on the colour black in the comment section below? Are you a chic black wearer or do you love a pop of colour?

    Peace and Love,

    Yasmin

BEAUTY BARGAIN /// SAVE OR SPLURGE MAKEUP EVERY GIRL NEEDS TO KNOW

Spoiler: It's Time To Save Money, Honey!

How To Grab An Awesome Beauty Bargain

Over the past few months, I’ve snapped new products I am testing out and trying and I’ve received SO many questions regarding my thoughts on these products. However, I thought it would be fun to share with you my holy grail drugstore (or affordable) makeup as well as my holy grail high end items!

I am typically a ‘you get what you paid for’ type girl - for the most part I typically like the real deal more than the dupe when it comes to beauty products. However, the past few months I’ve found some ‘dupe' items that I think are better or equal to the high end products. So let’s get started...
Please watch the video below and comment below if you have any other suggestions for any videos you want to see from my Youtube channel.  Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to my channel if you haven’t already, we’re almost at 3K!!My upload schedule is Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I don't know how it happened, but my current beauty spending is at an all-time low. Unfortunately the same can't be said for my Spring Wardrobe (Watch my haul here), My bad. When it comes to makeup though I feel like I have my favourites the Holy Grail status stuff that I repurchase over and over again and hen it's only on the odd occasion when something catches my eye. When it comes to purchasing, whether it is for the first time or the 47th time, here is a Full Face vs Drugstore Makeup Dupes. Read on as I share my cost-effective beauty products.

    SPLURGE ON HOLY GRAIL PRODUCTS

I seriously LOVE this foundation, it's pricy but it is worth it- for a natural, organic foundation. I think it is best for those who need light to medium coverage  and have normal to dry skin. This foundation can be worn as a concealer as well, it lasts ALL day and is REALLY good. I keep it in my makeup bag for touch ups throughout the day. I don't know of any natural foundation that even compares to this. Holy grail status, most definitely.

I’ve seen so many bloggers rave about this and I finally gave it a try. I am always disappointed in bronzers as they tend to only comes in one shade and they aren't dark enough for me BUT this bronzer is pure magic and comes in more than 10 shades. It is so smooth and looks SO good and natural! I also love the smell and packaging! I use it on my arms and feet in the summer for a golden tan.  :)

I seriously LOVE this eyeshadow palette. It is pricy but it is worth it - if you need it. I think it is best for those who love eyeshadows that are wearable but also want to experiment with warm shades. This orange and pink shades can be worn alone for events but I use the shimmery shades and the brown shades every day. It lasts ALL day and is REALLY good. I don’t know of any eyeshadow palette that even compares to this in terms of quality but read on for a really close alternative...

Ahhh I spent years hunting down the perfect eyeshadow primer- but never wanted to go premium. :( I found some many dupes  and purchased them but the color was always grey and it always irritated my sensitive eyes BUT the Urban Decay Primer Potion formula is so good. It’s full coverage and just wears so well and covers my dark eyelids.

This comes as a shock to me but this is flipping amazing. I swear by my Hourglass Ambient Powder in Radiant Light but after trying this on camera, I am in LOVE. It is not the best highlighter in the makeup world but for dark skin, this is a really great one. I really love for a flawless application and I can confirm it lasts for 8 hours without touch-ups. Looking on the Jouer website, it's apparently their best-selling highlighter and I can definitely agree that you will look luminous and that lit-from-within glow.

    SAVE & GET CHEAP DUPES

-You guys know that the Laura Mercier powder is a HG of mine - I will not travel with out it. However, I decided to try this since it’s cheaper and I actually really like it & think it is comparable to the Laura Mercier. (This video here is where I show my daily makeup routine and how I use this powder.)

-I own like every highlighter that comes out - mainly because not many work on my skin or show up on my skin. I am always trying new ones hoping they will really show up and make my skin glow! The other day, I got a package from ColourPop and randomly tried their highlighter and I was in shock. They are GOOD. Holy cow - you guys have to try it!

I keep this in my handbag because it’s a favorite of mine. I have HG mascaras like Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara but I like using this one for layering mascara. If I want my lashes to look extra long I add a coat of this one!

Just a warning - you will try to buy all the shades BUT it is totally worth it. The formula SO waterproof and long-lasting that I find it 100% worth it. It’s super user friendly but boy, when you get used to it - it stays and your lipstick will not move all day! A definite repurchase.

I seriously LOVE this eyeshadow palette and a dupe for Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette. I was so excited when Colorpop finally released an eyeshadow palette and this doesn't disappoint. The orange and pink shades are the best but I wish they added a dark brown or black so one can create a fun look. However, one con shouldn't dissuade you, It lasts ALL day and is REALLY good. I don’t know of any drugstore eyeshadow palette that even compares to this in terms of quality. By far, the best dupe of 2016.

    Peace and Love,

    Yasmin

GRWM: PARTY MAKEUP CHIT CHAT /// FEBRUARY FAVES

I do love a good party. The other thing I love is getting a bit dolled up. I'm not a huge makeup wearer on a daily basis but I do enjoy throwing on an evening look or elevating what I've had on during the day into something slightly more defining and "done." So I thought I'd put together an edit of my favourite products during the month of February and do exactly that with a limited amount of time. Only got 30 minutes to do a party look? I've got your back...

BEAUTY EDIT /// The Perfect Eyeshadow Palette?

TARTE TARTELETTE IN BLOOM PALETTE | SWATCHES & REVIEW

Over the past month, I've had the series on the blog called 'Beauty Edit' where I would keep my eye on the latest releases that I think might be worthy of a sport in my everyday line-up. I definitely don't pay as much attention to new products as I used to in the past as I prefer to streamline my makeup collection in this time of my life. This specific palette is a new release but as mentioned in my latest Sephora haul video, as soon as I walked into Sephora and looked at the palette in person, I was instantly stunned. Scroll down to end of this post to see the swatches and review, but in the meantime I thought I'd give you some pictures of the palette to browse through...

I know… I’m a little late to the party. I’ve been keeping this palette to myself for the last two weeks, but I really wanted to make sure that it was worth its salt before I shared with you just how good this is. I was dead set keen on nabbing their latest offering, the ‘in bloom’ palette something which felt a little lacking from Tarte’s original Amazonian Clay Palette. Spoiler, just like the original, the pigmentation is excellent, overall.

I started with “rocker” all across the lid, then applied “activist” in the outer corners and up into the crease just a bit. I grabbed a smaller eyeshadow brush and pressed “funny girl” right on top of my eyeliner (and this is the technique I used to apply that!) and blended everything out with “charmer”. And to finish, I applied “firecracker” at the base of my lower lashes just to add a bit of depth under my eye to round out the shape. I loved the look! The shades in the palette show in the images online are much warmer than they look/wear in real life, so just keep that in mind. The final look was rich and chocolatey, with shimmery warm copper/gold all across the lids and lower lash line.

    REVIEW OF THE PALETTE

The shadows are all formulated with Tarte's signature Amazonian Clay to deliver incredible colour payoff, lasting power and blendability. All of the shadows are absolutely amazing, the matte shades are some of the best I have ever encountered. They are super silky, ultra creamy and smooth. They are slightly powdery especially the light matte shades but in the best possible way. The powdery aspect only translates to smooth even pigmentation similar to Lorac or Kat Von D powders. Kat Von D eyeshadows have tons of kickoff but the Tarte palette has some kickoff, but translates as smooth and creamy when applied on the lids. All of the shades (even the shimmers) are super vibrant and work well on dark skin as it's packed with pigment which translates to intense payoff on the lids. They all blend beautifully with just a few strokes of your brush and are all around incredibly easy to work with.

What really surprised me about this palette wasn’t how good it was, but the scent. It’s a little bit of a cross between Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar Palette and a fresh marshmallow plucked straight from the bag, and makes the whole palette seem that much sweeter (as long as you have a sweet tooth like me, that is!).
My favourites in the palette are hands down Flower Child, Smarty Pants and Sweetheart, plus I love a little bit of Leader packed onto the lash line and smoked out for a little bit of depth.
Personally, this definitely sits within my all time favourite palettes; it’s fairly neutral, high quality, and has a large enough variety of shades to keep me coming back to it on a daily basis. Have you added this palette to your collection yet?
    Peace and Love,

    Yasmin
