Happy Sunday! I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend. Today's video is a personal one, I am revealing period tips every girl needs to know. Over the past few years, I have managed my period cramps and mood swings and I hope you guys find this video helpful! Watch the Youtube video first and read through the blog to find my best 5 tips! Don't forget to like and Subscribe to my channel for three videos every week.

    1. Pro tip: Try to wear comfortable underwear

My instinct during my period is to curl up in a ball and binge-watch The Crown for an entire weekend, but you should get out, and go for a long, walk. When you are getting dressed, underwear is always the hardest piece to wear because your lower region is swollen. My trick is to wear Commando High-Rise Briefs and trust me, it's uber comfortable. Listen, no one is saying you need to get out of bed to run a marathon, but going for a walk on your own or with friends will make you feel unbelievably better. Exercise triggers your brain to release endorphins, which are your body's natural pain reliever. Also, if you are prone to taking ibuprofen, exercise  one hour before you do so - that's when the meds will completely kick in and you'll hit your sweet spot for pain relief.

    2. Blueberries Can Reduce The Length Your Menstrual Cycle

You'd steamroll anything that stood between you and a plate of cheese fries right about now, yes? The struggle is real, and here's why: During the week before your period, your brain lowers serotonin, the chemical that makes you feel happy. Your body's natural response is to crave foods that comfort you aka high-fat, sugar, high-carb EVERYTHING. But, eating blueberries has been shown to reduce the length of your period. It's OK to indulge a little, but what will actually increase your energy and happiness is eating fresh fruits and vegetables.

    3. Baking Soda is a Natural Fragrance to Mask the Period Smell

Baking soda is natural fragrance that helps mask the period smell especially if you share close quarters with other individuals. For example, if you share a bathroom with roommates, you can pour baking soda over the trashcan to mask the smell of old pads. I find that spraying perfume is too obvious but baking soda absorbs all of the funky smell.

    4. Resist The Temptation To Try Miracle Drugs

Avoid trying super-powered PMS drugs that claim to help alleviate your period cramps unless it is prescribed by your doctor. Over counter drugs that have helped me in the past include Ibuprofen, Advil or Motrin. In severe cases, I take one pill every six hours and find amazing belief.

    5. Treat yo-self - it's a way better alternative to drown your mood swings

Real talk: You've got at least three decades of periods ahead of you. That's too much time to waste to complain about your cycle every month. Instead, try to find a way to kinda-sorta, as-much-as-humanly-possible embrace your time of the month. I like to invite my friends over, do face masks, eat my favourite croissants and cupcakes and enjoy our pamper evening. All of these tips reduce the dread of getting my period! Amen to that.
