    PRETTY COMFORTABLE

Soft cashmere and the texture of an army-green jacket. Ankle booties with nude skirt check, it all sounds like my ideal autumn look. Cashmere, cotton, layers and wide fitting clothes really sounds like all I want to be finding in my closet at this time of the year. I have been wearing this look with a backpack, as I am tired of wearing cross-body bags to work. I absolutely love my new statement backpack that fits all of my necessities while running around work and evening classes in Edmonton. It is also perfect because I can fit a pair of heels in here to change from day to night. However, I forgot to take pictures with my backpack on this occasion, so I will include shots from another photo-taking session. Lo and behold, when it took time to take photos, I placed my bag on the side bench.

I have been receiving some comments from readers to start incorporating Youtube videos into my blog because they would like to see my personality. I am not comfortable speaking into a camera right now but rest assured, the day I choose to do so, my first video will inevitably be What's in my bag...lol.

In the photos below, I am wearing my favourite army-green jacket, a striped cashmere sweater and a nude maxi skirt. I decided to pair this look with my favourite nude ankle booties. However, in the afternoon, I changed to open-toed heeled sandals as the temperature increased.

I would like to know, how did you spend your weekend? I spent Sunday working on projects and studying, since I only have a couple of days before my next trip for work. I might not post often this week but head to my Instagram page to see my adventures.

    5 minute Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is probably the easiest delicious recipe I can prepare in the morning. It is so easy to prepare and filing, so if you have five minutes, head to the kitchen and read below.
Everyone loves Avocado toast because it is so tasty and you can improve on the breakfast overtime you prepare it. I have now started to carry my own avocado in my school bag for a midday snack. A perfect avocado is one that is not too mushy, not too hard and actually has a taste. Therefore, I tend to buy organic avocado because it just tastes so much better.

Truthfully, this is one recipe both my mom and I eat most often.

    Recipe
    Toast a whole wheat toast
Spread it generously with mayonnaise or Vegenaise for vegans.
Top  with a few slices of avocado, ever so  gently pressing the avocado into the bread.
Hit it with a nice pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
Squeeze a tiny bit of lemon and if you would like, sprinkle with red chili flakes.

There you go, your new favourite breakfast meal. In the picture below, I added a side dish of mixed salad of spinach and lettuce leaves with carrots. The drink is lemon water.

Fave Five Lip products for Fall

My favourite part of makeup are lips mostly because my lips are one of my favourite features of my face. It seems my prominent forehead was met with prominent lips, so I like to cover them in all kinds of colours! The 5  lip products I use most frequently are all by all by different brands – you’ve definetely seen me wearing these in my outift posts, especially Chanel Glossimer in shade 46  which is the perfect barely there nude, for dark skin tones. I don’t really leave the house without one of these on!

I also recently fell in love with Aerin Rose Balm Lipstick which legitimately looks like a small bar of gold. I made a huge mess on the first attempt, but after some practice,  it’s such a lovely alternative to lipstick as a balm and so much richer. Unlike Liya's Nude, the Rose Balm conditions your lips and plumps them without adding a purplish undertone. This lipstick is suitable for all skin tones. Definitely reach for this lipstick in the fall and winter seasons just before you leave through the front door.

I like to line my lips in Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Pencil in 9C and then fill out the centre with the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Deauville during special occasions. This formula is incredible as it's a lipstick and a lipgloss in one. Furthermore, it stays on the lips for a long time, plumps the lips and adds a sheen that is not tacky, but gives it a healthier, fuller appearance. This is the kind of lipstick that you put on, and your lips feel moisturized  and plump all day and evening.

Moreover, I enjoy putting on a red lip for photos because it just makes you instantly put together. I received the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella for my Sephora birthday gift in 2015. What a pleasant birthday gift and I still use it everyday. As it is in a pencil form, I use this to line my lips first and then, fill in it as a regular lipstick. It's finish is mate however, it does not look dry and chalky. As a red lipstick, it is fairly blue-toned and is described on the NARS website as "passionate, scarlet red." In my experience, is it fairly opaque and lasted eight hours without retouching. The only downside is that it feels very drying so I normally apply a lip balm, wait for it to seem into my lips. Then, I would dap away the excessive lip balm and then, apply the lipstick.

A budget alternative to the NARS Lip Pencil is Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Rich Ruby. It is a rich, ruby red that is exactly the shade of red I love. I actually prefer this red lipstick to the NARS because it provides opaque coverage and a high end feel without the price tag. The biggest plus point is the it does not feel drying even when I layer the lipstick from day to night. This creamy matte lipstick formula is incredible. If you haven't tried it out yet, please purchase it and let me know!

    The Plaid Skirt

A plaid skirt is really not a trend, but a fall and winter staple in my wardrobe. I first saw the plaid skirt in the 90s in the movie, Clueless where Cher wore a matching bright yellow plaid blazer and mini skirt. When I came across the outfit, I thought to myself, "yes now that's an outfit that makes a statement."

Question: Can you wear a plaid skirt today without looking dated or you're auditioning in a porn flick? YES

In my case, I evoked the vibe of a cheeky school girl look. Prim, proper yet naughty and free. I opted for a high waisted skirt, a classic white shirt, a sleeveless sweater and stiletto heels.

Whatever the plaid pattern or skirt style, wear it with cheekiness and a hint of naughty!

    Earthy Vibes

Happy hump day my lovely readers!

On Tuesday, I had planned to continue my monochrome all black look as I forgot to clean my whites and coloured clothing on the weekend. (As I had a busy week with assignments and work obligations, I spent the weekend with family and friends, cooking and eating pizza and deserts, cozying in the living room with fall candles and watching good movies). So, on Tuesday morning, I checked the weather on a whim and  saw that the forecast called it a grey, rainy day. I kinda got excited because Edmonton does not normally have rainy days. At the back of my mind, I remembered that I had my green and grey trench coat and pulled it out from the back of my closet.

I bought this trench coat from a sale in Laura when I was still in high school. Back then, it was a size medium and I really didn't wear it often because it was way big and the sleeves were too long. However, I knew that I had to buy it because it was the kind of trench coat I was looking for. Although the main colour is grey, the flashes of green and yellow subtely  add pops of colour. I love mixing the yellow and green colours of the trench coat into my accessories. Gold jewelry and a olive green hijab were the perfect adding touches to the look. On practical reasons, the coat is cozy, right length to keep it flattering and kept me dry throughout the day. How do you like it?

Wishing you all a lovely week, have you got any exciting plans you are looking forward to on Friday and on the weekend? Leave me your comments below and we can discuss!
