HOW TO WEAR PASTELS IN WINTER NOW: OUTFIT & MAKEUP

When I look at the most recent spring / summer 2017 collections and all the great fuchsias, lilacs and kitten heels, it makes me miss the summer, and wish I could wear some of those colors now. My winter wardrobe seems to be mostly neutrals: lots of gray, black, brown — and pretty much black skirts with everything. I try to get different colour boots to spice it up, but that only goes so far. So recently, while shopping during Boxing Day, I saw the Forever 21 jacket (similar)  on sale for $30.

Here are some pastel color combinations that I’m adding to my closet, inspired by the spring 2015 shows.

I thought to myself, Why haven’t I bought more pastels to mix in with these light coloured blazers? Here are some pastel color combinations that I’m adding to my closet, inspired by the spring 2017 shows.

    Lilac & Cream

This lilac skirt  can be easily worn in the winter and summer. I like that it’s high waisted so you can wear it with a cropped shirt like this one from Zara and layer with this neutral cropped blazer from Forever 21.  For my scarf,  I am not a fan of Barbie pink, but I can pull off shades of dusky rose. The hijab is a simple pashmina fabric in a nude grey that matches the skirt without it being too matchy

I love the clutch bag because it’s something I would feel comfortable wearing anywhere, it's wide enough to stash all of my essentials some emergency tablets. The Silver Bracelet is a nice addition to the look, I love how it sparkles when the light hits it. The suede black pumps  make the outfit more sophisticated and glamourous. You can make this work for summer by getting rid of the blazer coat and swapping in a white silk shirt.

    Lilac Rose Makeup

For makeup, I always revert to quick and easy makeup that's one step above 'no makeup' makeup for photos but on this particular day, I really went for a rose gold theme that light and airy.

Makeup For Ever Full Coverage Concealer review |  Of course this is in the mix! It's just one of those great concealers that you can use under your eyes and it isn't too thick or caky but it's also high-coverage enough and not too hydrating for on blemishes. It doesn't crease, is long-wearing and has such a natural finish, as well as a formula that blends incredibly well.

    Cheeks

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light | review | Of course this is my go-to bronzer so it's what I reach for when I'm feeling a bit lazy. It's a matte formula that looks warm on the skin but not orange. The formula is so smooth and easy to blend that I can apply this in a minute or two to add some quick dimension to the look.

Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer | £25 | review | I guess it doesn't look like much in the bottle, or even when swatched, but this is one of my most used blushers for a reason; it just always does the trick! It's a liquid formula but does have a bit of a sheen to it. It just has the best formula, whilst it feels a bit fluid, it just applies so evenly with no effort and lasts all day long. The colour itself is a true-rose-gold.

    Eyes

MAC Single Eyeshadow in All That Glitters | This is the shade I actually reach for the most! MAC eyeshadows have a great formula and this shade is no exception. The colour is a shimmery rose gold. This is a pearlised finish so it has this gorgeous subtle rose gold sheen. It's no way understated but noticeable wash of colour that's just so long-wearing and crease-proof.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Velvet Orchid | This is a bit pricey but it's worth getting yourself a stick eyeshadow because you can also line your eyes with it. I use this deep purple matte cream eyeshadow on the outer part of the lid and the blend it with my finger (there's no need to be too precise).

W3LL People Expressionist Mascara | Lashes are pretty much a non-negotiable, no matter how lazy I'm feeling - my makeup just feels unfinished without mascara! This is of course my old favourite because it gives me so much length and curl as well as a nice dose of volume that's nothing too clumpy. It just really helps open up the eyes as well.

    Lips

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick | review| I know they're kind of pricey but I honestly swear by these tinted lipsticks, they feel like lip balms! Plus, it's so nourishing and are actually quite pigmented in terms of the colour. This shade is a very warm plum nude.
