Review: Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in 02 Cognac Sable

My Favourite Eyeshadow Palette is the Tom Ford Eyeshadow Palette in 02 Cognac Sable. For all the chocolate girls with skin tones ranging from milk chocolate to deepest rich cocoa, this is a palette/ eye colour brand that you can appreciate.

I first stumbled upon the Tom Ford Eyeshadow quad in Cognac Sable on Lisa Eldridge's Youtube channel as she was using the palette on Stephanie Simon, London based jewelry designer and makeup enthusiast. Immediately, I was intrigued by the palette as Lisa was using a dark skinned 'model' and teaching her makeup techniques and products she should use to create the glam look.

Unfortunately, It has been brought to my attention that Tom Ford has discontinued this palette. However, do not panic as the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Honeymoon is very similar and similar colour shades. The pigmentation and colour payoff is also amazing!

When I purchased this palette over a year ago, I rematched the video so I can learn how to appropriately wear eyeshadow without looking like a toddler rummaging through my mother's 80s makeup bag. Lisa Eldridge is an incredible teacher and followed along with no difficulty and began to wear the look as my signature evening look. When I needed to tone down the look for daytime, I would use the bronze shade all over my lid and define my crease using the dark brown cocoa shade.

This palette is always in my makeup bag as it is small, dependable and every shade in the palette serves its purpose. I definitely got a great value on the palette and strangely, I have not repurchased another Tom Ford palette as I am quite content with this one.

The colour payoff of the four shades are incredible, they are buttery, true to colour, easy to blend and the shade selection is perfect for dark skin tones. Also, the colour selection is very curated. The top left shade is a beige mink shade with fine glitters. I normally apply it as a highlight in the inner corners of my eyes.  The bottom left shade is a true brown bronze shade that I place all over my eyelid as a wash of colour. Then, I use the bottom right shade, a dark cocoa colour to define my crease and creates shadows near my upper and lower eyelashes.  This shade is intense, I would recommend tapping your brush lightly first and distributing the colour and then going back to the shade for more intensity. Remember, start with the small and then build up. Finally, I use the top  left bronzy glitter shade for adult glitter on evenings. The glitter particles are large but is refined. I take my ring finger, press into the shade and tap it on my eyelid directly. The result is beautiful and mysterious.
